I did find two tutorials that "clicked" with their simple explanations. I printed them out and carried it with me at all times in my bag. I've practiced enough that I no longer need these tutorials with me, but I really owe my current drawing style of faces the following two:
1. Polycarbon: How to Draw Faces The "gas mask" made a lot of sense to me and sometimes I draw in a gas mask to help remind me that the lower half of the face is farther out than the forehead/eye area.
2. Buscema's version of drawing a Marvel profile - I can't find the site where I originally found the information, but I was able to find this again on a different person's blog. Halfway in this post, there are scans of how to build a woman's profile. This is what really helped me the most.
It's OK if neither of these links help you because sometimes you just have to find a specific voice that helps you understand what you're looking to draw. There's a ton of artists out there that are only happy to explain their process and it's a matter of googling until you find 'em! While I was out googling for these two tutorials to link in this journal, I was delighted to find a tutorial for drawing faces at a 3/4th angle. I've bookmarked it so I can print it out at work on Monday and start carrying it around with me. I'm pretty weak in this area so I'm looking forward to the practice!
